It’s so bad out there we just towed Santa out of a snow bank. Poor guy just stopped by his Auntie Gwen’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. Stay off the roads if you don’t absolutely need to be out. NO PARKING ON THE STREET. Oh and behave! Santa’s still close.

📢 Property-tax changes ahead: What they mean for homeowners and for Bedford
The Ohio Senate has moved forward several bills (HB 335, HB 186, HB 309 and HB 129) focused on providing property-tax relief for homeowners across the state. These bills are meant to slow the rise of property-tax bills as home values increase, limit automatic tax-revenue growth for local governments and school districts, and give residents a little more predictability from year to year. An updated report on November 20 noted that the Senate is now considering adding about 400 million dollars in additional homeowner relief as part of this package.
🏠 What this means for you as a homeowner:
• If you own a home in Bedford, your property-tax bill may grow more slowly than it would have under the old rules. In some cases, it could be lower than expected.
• The legislation places limits on how fast local taxing units can collect additional revenue when property values rise, so the increases many homeowners have seen in recent years may ease up.
🏛 What this means for the City of Bedford and local services:
• Slower growth in property-tax revenue means the City and other local taxing bodies may have less flexibility in future budgets. This includes services such as schools, fire and EMS, the library system and other departments that rely on property-tax support.
• With less room for revenue growth, the City may face tougher budget decisions over time and may need to plan carefully for long-term projects and service levels.
Bottom line:
This legislation offers helpful tax relief for homeowners, which many residents will welcome. At the same time, it also means local governments, including Bedford, will need to manage their budgets thoughtfully as these changes phase in. Tax relief today may also bring some financial adjustments later.
Ohio Senate adds $400 million in homeowner relief as property tax bills head to governor
A last-minute Senate amendment to HB 186, a property tax reform bill, is expected to shift $400 million a year to homeowners, as lawmakers move to pass a sweeping property tax overhaul.
